The town of Newtown is located in Curraheen.

An ancient castle in Benduff was a holding of the O'Donovans. Benduff was also the residence of the Morris family.

Coolnabro, Shanlaragh, and Dunmore are local names for the western, middle, and eastern parts of the townland of Rouryglen respectively.
